home

Not all, but there are few types of pests that can prove hazardous and troublesome! All you need to know about pests is up there on the internet. However, be extra cautious if you have senior citizens at your place of living. Seniors form certain unavoidable habits that may welcome more and more pests. Hence, it becomes your responsibility as a young family member to cover their habits.

There are certain precautions every senior person in a family must take:

Do Not Leave Your Food

Age is something that puts all of us in a little bit of inactiveness. However, food means a lot to all the age groups. It would not be rude to suggest the seniors in the family to not to leave any food in open. There is a possibility that they may, at times, immediately sleep after eating.

This leaves the food or food jars open either in the kitchen or the dining area. The act is enough to call for more number of pests as pests can smell food from a distance.

Avoid Eating Leftovers or Stale Food

Most of the seniors have a habit of leaving food on plates. Never argue with them because it is not going to change anything. As young family members, it is our responsibility to clean their plates immediately if they are unable to do so. Any food leftover is a great welcome for multiple pests.

Once pests start surviving on food leftovers, it becomes difficult to get rid of them soon. The smell of food is very attractive to any kind of pest.

Do Not Leave Medicines Open

Seniors must never leave any medicine (particularly any cough syrup) open. Sometimes, the outer crust of the medicines is sweet and pests get attracted to sweetened syrups and medicines. Avoid taking medicines that are fallen on the ground. Throw these medicines immediately if you have pests around.

There are chances that pests may have defecated or vomited in a place from where you have picked your medicine.

Use Washed Utensils

No matter how weak you are feeling; avoid using unwashed utensils. The utensils that are not washed or washed inappropriately may have food remains on it. If you were unable to wash the utensils, eat in eco-friendly paper plates. This way you can keep yourself away from any fatal disease and poor health conditions.

As seniors, you need to be extra cautious with any kind of pest infestation and its reasons at home.

Use Mosquito Guards or Nets

Age does not matter when it comes to peaceful sleep! We all need peaceful sleep after a day’s hectic work schedule. Normally, every human requires minimum 8 hours of sleep. However, when it comes to sleeping with a peaceful mind, use mosquito-nets in your bed area to keep away from mosquitos.

This step will never allow the mosquitos and other small flying insects to disturb your sleep. You can also use other mosquito repellants or electronic devices to keep these insects away.

Wash Your Hands Regularly

It does not matter what age you belong to and how may time in a day you wash your hands; handwash is a compulsory process. Simply using a little handwash liquid and rubbing your palms against each other is not a healthy way to clean your hands. Check on the internet about how to wash your hands effectively.

Use cruelty-free hand sanitizers every time you use public toilets or visit any public place.

Keep Your Toilets and Kitchen Sinks Dry

Do not forget to close all the faucets before sleep. You can set night alarms at a specified time to remind you of doing this. This will help you keep your kitchen sink and toilet mush-free and dry. There are certain deadly pests that thrive normally in and around these areas. You can check different websites such as pointepestcontrol.net to get complete information regarding pests and its reasons for infestation.
